Positive Realities supports young people in Edinburgh and West Lothian aged 12-25 with the transition into adulthood through personal development workshops and life coaching and their aim is to improve health and wellbeing of young people as well as their parents/carers and siblings through 1:1 coaching support and group based emotional and social support.
Life coaching assists young people in choosing an area of their life they feel needs improving, set goals, and work alongside a coach to achieve them. This helps clients to adopt positive behavioural changes and increase a sense of control over their life, by finding their own solutions to problems. There is currently a waiting list of approximately two months evidencing the need for extra volunteers. The David Doig Foundation funding will enable the organisation to expand its service and 26 young people – who have a range of complex issues such as poor school attendance, declining educational performance, history of abuse and behavioural or mental health issues - will benefit.
